There are incredible people in our community who are making a positive impact. The services they provide can be replicated in other communities, creating a ripple effect of positive change in surrounding communities as well.

The Power of Community Connectedness showcases these individuals and organizations. It is my sincere hope that individuals stop sitting at home, trying to figure everything out on their own, and instead, reach out for assistance.

There is no need to journey alone. Reach out.

The idea for my Taking Tea books came about several years ago, when our youngest daughter, Rachel, embarked on a missionary trip to Africa. Rachel came back with many interesting stories, but the one that intrigued me the most was the tradition of “taking tea” every day. When it is time for tea, everyone MUST stop whatever task they are doing and participate in having tea and conversation with whomever they are with at the time.

In our faced-paced world of texts, emails, and social media, I wondered what taking tea in America would look like. Is it possible to adopt some aspect of this wonderful tradition here? I believe so. In fact, I think it is more a question of how we make time in our day, than a question of should we make time.

My Taking Tea books contain suggestions for making and keeping connections. Journal pages are included in each of the books. Cozy up in your favorite spot with a steaming beverage and let’s spend time “taking tea” together.

  • A Recipe for Taking Tea in America

  • 25 Days of Taking Tea at Christmastime: Creating Moments of Comfort and Joy

  • Taking Tea During Topsy-Turvy Times: 30 Ways to Connect When Your World Turns Upside-Down

A Heart for Jesus: A 40-Day Journey with Our Savior

A Heart For Jesus is a 40-day book of devotionals, designed to draw you closer to Savior during the season of Lent. The book can also be used anytime you simply want to renew your relationship with Jesus.

Beautiful journal pages with reflection questions have been provided throughout the book where you can record your thoughts as you journey with Jesus. I pray this Lenten season brings renewal to your walk with Jesus.

I Wish: Shared Perspectives Shared Around the IEP Table

The idea for I Wish: Heartfelt Desire Shared around the IEP Table, was borne out of a desire to share the perspectives of everyone involved in the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) process, including individuals with unique abilities, families and caregivers, and school personnel. Heartache often occurs out of simple misunderstandings. It is my fervent hope that this book will provide a way to embrace the perspectives of every individual gathered around the table.

The “I Wish” statements of those included in this book are not always directly related to the IEP process, but are sometimes expressions of what they want others to know about them as people. It is their hope, as they share their unique perspectives, that others will truly hear their hearts.

I Wish: Heartfelt Desires Shared around the IEP Table portrays the voices of those deeply entrenched in the lives of those we serve. Ultimately, our goal is the same: to ensure the success of all individuals who grace us with their presence at the table.

30 Days to a Sprightlier You: Attracting a Life of More Sparkle, Joy, Love, and Laughter

In 30 Days to a Sprightlier You, my sister Melanie Vicker, and I, offer information, insights, and encouragement, that will enable you to live lives of sparkle, joy, love, and laughter. It is difficult to be our best selves if we are physically or spiritually tired, if we are living without purpose, or if we don’t have a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

30 Days to a Sprightlier You is packed with information to help you be the best version of YOU. When we feel our best spiritually, physically, and mentally/emotionally, we live more fully. We believe strongly in creating a wellness plan unique to you. One-size-fits-all plans – cookie-cutter plans - don’t work, because you are not a cookie-cutter person. You are wonderfully created to be YOU.

We welcome you to the Sprightly Life community, where we walk alongside you as we celebrate living our best lives. A life of sparkle, joy, love, and laughter is right around the corner.
