MY Vision
I believe that everyone has a calling, a purpose in this life. We are all created with unique skills and abilities. We sometimes try to discover our calling with little or no success. If this is you, I encourage you to go out and serve. As we serve and volunteer, we often discover what activities we like and don’t like. We find a strength we didn’t know we had. There is no risk in volunteering and if we still haven’t found what we are looking for, we have at least helped another individual in the process.
My own purpose started back in 7th grade when I noticed a classroom of children off the side of the cafeteria, They all had unique abilities and looked like they would be wonderful friends. I wondered why they were isolated. When I questioned my teacher about their separation from the rest of us, her response was that was just the way things were. I did not like her response. That moments was a key to my purpose, although I did not realize it at the time.
I often watched from the sidelines as a child - a victim of low self-esteem and bullying. But out of that pain came a tremendous desire for everyone to belong. Out of my pain my purpose was borne. This is true for many of us. How will you use your purpose to serve others? Everyone deserves to have a tribe of people, to be encouraged and supported. Let me know how I can help.
From my journey came a calling to serve those with unique abilities and their families. I was a Special Education Professional for over 20 years. For several years prior to retiring, I had families coming to me in desperation. Their children had graduated from high school and were now sitting at home playing video games, unsure of their purpose and next steps. I left teaching and started my business, “Transition Bridges” as a way to “bridge” the transition from high school to whatever was next for these young people. I planted myself in the community as liaison, connecting individuals to opportunities in our community.
In my business, I help others navigate the IEP (Individualized Education Plan) Process, advocate and teach effective advocating skills, and connect others to the many resources available in our communities.
I recently had an opportunity to be a guest on Community Keynotes, created by Melissa Majors and was given the opportunity to share my story. The link to my keynote is below.

I am the author of the book I Wish: Shared Perspectives Around the IEP Table. The book is designed to help all of us at the IEP table: Individuals with unique abilities, parents and caregivers, and school personnel “walk in each other’s shoes,” in order to have more powerful conversations as we plan for the success of our students.
As a published author, I collaborate with others who have a dream of writing and publishing a book. I offer proofreading, editing, and book coaching services. Over 80% of the world's population dream of writing a book, but fewer than 1% actually make this dream a reality.
If you have a message you are passionate to share with others, reach out. The initial consultation is free to see if we are a good fit for one another.
Together, let's transform your dream of a published book into reality.

about me
I started my Transition Bridges business with the goal of helping adults with unique abilities find and fulfill their life’s purpose. As a former Special Education Teacher, I was dismayed to discover that many of my former students were struggling with direction after graduating from high school.
Along my journey I met adults in a different transition, specifically those in retirement. Retired adults were challenged with finding their purpose in a new season of life. Transition Bridges is here to help meet the needs of adults who desire to successfully transition from one life phase to another - from dream to destination.
